Brando Crespi, Advisor for Environment and Agriculture

Brando Crespi is an ecopreneur and climate activist with a deep background in sustainability and regenerative climate-smart practices, especially the use of biochar.

He was instrumental in launching the world-renowned Rodeo Drive with openings of the first Fendi, Pratesi, and Versace stores. His company, BC&A, also represented the U.S. communication and licensing needs of European luxury companies such as E. Zegna, Fendi, Pratesi, Salvatore Ferragamo, Krizia, Ungaro, and Christofle.

In 1985, he refocused on environmental work by co-founding Pro Natura, a Brazilian developmental NGO addressing the Amazon's ecological destruction. Pro Natura’s work eventually received the U.S. Academy of Science's Mitchell Prize, widely considered the Sustainability Nobel. By 1990, he internationalized Pro Natura's work to over 60 countries. Continuing his consulting work, now focused primarily on green innovation, Brando created a hemp "eco-jeans" line for Armani, rebranded Habitat's 109 stores (the urban IKEA), and developed green value-driven products at L'Oréal, Procter & Gamble, Givaudan, and others.

In 2008 , he authored "Geostrategic Implications of Global Warming" for Nomisma, Italy's premier think tank. He also co-founded the first Holy See-approved "Catholic Ethical Screening Service," where 70 theologians and bioethicists from 5 Catholic Universities screened 5000 public companies. In 2017, he co-founded Polimateria, a UK-based biodegradable plastics company.

Currently based in New York, NY and Santa Fe, NM, Brando leads Pro Natura’s worldwide operations including a new firm, Global Biocarbons, which is constructing an innovative pilot biorefinery in New Mexico.
